CFSY is funded by the Government of Canada and Raven, with in-kind contributions from Yukon Government.

About

Computers for Schools Yukon is the Yukon based branch of Computers for Schools Plus (CFS+), a federal government-led program that aims to extend the useful life of electronic equipment, reduce the environmental impact of electronic waste and offered practical work internships to young Canadians to help them develop advanced digital skills for the job market.

Ways CFSY can help:

  • Educate Yukoners of all ages about technology, computers and safety and privacy on the internet

  • Provide technological help, free and open source information and digital literacy support to new computer users

  • Support youth in finding work within the technology field through offering internships, jobs for students and volunteer opportunities

  • Increase access to free and low-cost computers for those in need, especially seniors and low-income families

  • Reduce the need to buy new by providing quality refurbished computers and safely recycling what is not needed

  • Distribute computers to non-profit organizations, First Nation governments and schools

  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to reduce waste in Yukon communities
