Artist

Residencies

As part of zero waste advocacy, Raven regularly hosts Yukon artists to create more meaningful community connections and conversations on the topics of waste, consumption and nature.

inspiration

Our Artists in Residency program inspires us to rethink, reimagine and redesign the way we engage with waste. By hosting artists throughout the year, we engage more deeply and creatively in the topics surrounding zero waste and the circular economy and how we live within our current linear system. Residents have the opportunity to engage customers, staff and the broader community through conversation, joint facility tours, educational workshops, speaking events, and artistic displays and performances. Through art, we can more effectively challenge ideas, shift perspectives and coalesce our calls to action for healthier communities, ecosystems and our planet. At the end of the residency, the outcomes of the activities and conversations then feed back to Raven, sparking new ideas on how we can play our part in creating a better world.

Goals of the residency:

  • To engage our community more deeply in conversation about the ways we create and manage our waste

  • To educate the public about a more circular system

  • To strengthen relationships within a web of environmental allies

  • To create space within which bold activism and positive change can grow
