365,000 lbs diverted

The Yukon’s landfills currently absorb between 200,000 and 300,000 pounds of reusable textiles every year. Since taking on the textile recycling initiative in 2017, we’ve diverted 365,000 pounds of textiles from the territory’s landfills!

Textile recycling supports

local charity!

Half of the proceeds from this program are donated to the Whitehorse Firefighters Charitable Society!

Reuse is always

Top Tips for Reuse

  1. Host a clothing swap.

Reusing clothes locally is the best possible option for the environment and it supports your local community. Consider hosting a clothing swap with your friends to find ways to keep the flow of materials circular!

  2. Donate what you don’t need anymore.

When you’re looking to get rid of old clothing, shoes and accessories, first consider donating them. Come by Raven’s Reuseful Thursdays between 9 AM to 5 PM to donate. Or check out the many other local non-profit organizations in our Whitehorse Reuse Guide as well as thrift and consignment stores that occasionally take donations of used clothing.
