Raven Launches New ReTek Program

From Computers for Schools Yukon to Raven ReTek: Continuing the Work, Expanding the Reach

For more than 32 years, Computers for Schools Yukon helped refurbish and redistribute technology across the territory, making computers more accessible for schools, students, non-profit organizations, low-income residents, Indigenous communities, youth, and underserved populations. That work has always been about more than computers. It has been about access: access to education, work, communication, services, community connection, and opportunity.

In 2026, the national Computers for Schools Plus program evolved into Computers for Success Canada following the conclusion of federal funding through Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. Here in the Yukon, Raven ReCentre saw an opportunity to keep the work going, build on the systems already in place, and create a model that could serve even more Yukoners.

That next chapter is Raven ReTek.

Why Raven ReTek?

Raven ReTek continues the refurbishment and redistribution work previously delivered through Computers for Schools Yukon, while allowing the program to grow in a way that better reflects local needs.

Under the previous program, support was often tied to specific eligibility guidelines. Those partnerships remain important, and Raven ReTek will continue working with schools, non-profits, First Nations organizations, students, seniors, veterans, and community partners. But the new model also gives Raven more flexibility to support newcomers, job seekers, rural communities, families, individuals, and any Yukoner looking for affordable refurbished technology.

It also allows Raven to serve people who value reuse and repair — people who may be able to buy new, but would rather keep good technology in circulation and out of the landfill.

What is changing?

The name is changing. The structure is changing. The program is now operating more fully under Raven ReCentre’s wing as Raven ReTek. This gives the team more room to offer refurbished devices, repair support, data services, education, and practical tech help in a way that fits the Yukon.

Raven ReTek will continue to participate in the broader national network connected to Computers for Success Canada, while also creating a distinct local stream for technology sourced, refurbished, and redistributed here in the territory.

What is staying the same?

The commitment to responsible refurbishment is staying the same. Raven’s infrastructure, certified data-wiping systems, refurbishment processes, and operational standards remain in place. Donors, partners, and customers can continue to expect careful handling of devices, secure data destruction, and professional service.

The environmental purpose also remains central. Every device that can be repaired, refurbished, reused, or responsibly recycled helps reduce electronic waste and keeps valuable materials out of the landfill.

Local partnerships make this possible

Raven ReCentre is grateful for the continued support of the Yukon Government and the Department of Education, including ongoing warehouse space and access to assets that can be refurbished and kept in circulation locally. These partnerships help keep usable technology in the Yukon and in the hands of schools, organizations, families, and individuals who can benefit from it. Raven also acknowledges the many partners, donors, staff, technicians, and supporters who have helped build and sustain this work over the years.

Looking ahead

The need for affordable technology, digital skills, and sustainable reuse solutions continues to grow. Raven ReTek was created to meet that need with more flexibility, a broader community focus, and a strong foundation of experience.

Our goal is simple: keep good technology out of the waste stream and in the hands of Yukoners who can use it.

Raven ReTek is the next chapter in that work — continuing a long-standing program, expanding who it can serve, and helping build a more connected, affordable, and circular technology future for the Yukon.
